Community-Centered Workshops

Community-Centered Workshops are our partner-requested, community-oriented offering. The design of the module depends upon the request, needs, and overall objectives of the given partner community. Rates may vary depending on the complexity of the project or workshop requested by the partner, and will consider specific factors such as length of requested workshop, facilitator's fee, food and transportation allowance, and preparation of instructional materials.

If you are interested to request for a workshop with LPT, or simply would like to inquire how it works, please email us at langgamperformancetroupeinc@gmail.com

PAST COMMISSIONED WORKSHOPS

MGA AKTIBONG ARKIBO (2026)
In 2026, LPT collaborated with the Alliance of the People's Organization along Manggahan Floodway (APOAMF) and Ateneo de Manila to conduct Mga Aktibong Arkibo (Active Archives), a physical theater workshop designed to provide youth members of APOAMF (ranging from pre-teens to late teens) with the basics of stage body movement, physical storytelling, and ensemble techniques and exercises. Participants were engaged in a series of practical movement and group exercises where they found a range of tools and methods that helped enable the storytelling possibilities of their bodies and other forms of ensemble choreography. Apart from this, the workshop also maximize the platform of theater to introduce participants to relevant life skills such as communication, organization, storytelling, problem-solving, creative-thinking, collaborative, and leadership abilities.

More importantly, Mga Aktibong Arkibo (Active Archives) aimed to introduce physical theater as an alternative educational platform for the participants to further explore the collective history, memory, and legacy built by their community at the Alliance of the People’s Organization along Manggahan Floodway (APOAMF). From the title of the workshop itself, it acknowledges the body as an active archive of memories and oral histories that is inherited from previous generations and further poised to transcend across future generations.

SUGILANON WORKSHOP FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE (2022)

In 2022, LPT collaborated with CARD MRI Hijos Tour (CMHT) and CARD MRI Publishing House to adapt Sugilanon short film into a live performance. Sugilanon narrates three (3) composite characters whose narratives are based on real-life stories and experiences of people from the CMHT communities. These composite characters were the Nanay (mother), Driver, and the MBA Coordinator, whose monologues were enacted by actual nanays, MBA coordinators, and drivers of the CMHT communities themselves. The key objectives of the live performance were to: a) provide an inspirational anchor to the CMHT communities by prompting reflections of one’s individual role and how this contributes to elevating our society’s well-being; and b) reinvigorate the local tourism and live events sector of the San Pablo, Laguna community after a long hiatus wrought by the pandemic by officially launching the live performance adaptation of Sugilanon. In line with this, LPT proposed a theater workshop and production plan that was designed to support the needs and demands of Sugilanon’s live performance adaptation. The primary recipients of this proposal were the actors designated to perform the composite characters of Sugilanon. LPT provided our recipients with intensive training in theater acting, production and backstage management support, directorial concept and approach, general creative consultation, and video documentation services.
