Jaz Ayran | Artistic Associate

Jaz Ayran (he/him) is an education professional, scriptwriter, and performance artist.
His first foray in the performance arts was as a spoken word artist, which led to a stage role in a thesis play in the Ateneo, followed by various roles, typically playing the "heavy". He played Pozzo in Ikarus Theater Collaborative's Paghihintay kay Godot, Tinker in Langgam Performance Troupe's staging of Sarah Kane's Cleansed, and Silak/Shylock in Pound of Flesh, Ikarus's adaptation of The Merchant of Venice.
Jaz also has experience behind the scenes. His first film script won in the AIDS Media Awards in 2005. He incorporated elements of spoken word poetry in his next projects: Timeline and Alter. Both of these were spoken word devised plays. He continued to work during the pandemic lockdown, writing and directing two screenlife projects: Connections and Being Sofia.
He dabbles in stand up comedy whenever he can. He is one hip-hop/RnB album away from his Childish Gambino award. He also wants to try dance which, when he does, is also its own form of comedy.
Jaz is an advocate for education as an avenue for radical social change. He is also an enthusiast in many different fields, such as coffee, tabletop gaming, and carpentry. He lives with his wife, daughter, and two dogs in Mandaluyong.
